Gaining self-awareness is a process not entirely up to you, regarding the length of it. Although, as in many other areas of life, the more time, effort and focus you put into it, the sooner you will achieve your goal.

This is because you have some powerful enemies, like your subconscious mind. It is in a sense only doing its job by protecting you from pain, but now when you want to face the unknown it is working hard against you. You will be overwhelmed with feelings and thoughts of giving up, thoughts of why you should stop your search… If you manage to persevere, you will however find that the foe becomes a friend, an ally in the search for truth.

So it is a quite delicate matter to listen to yourself, and understanding if your feelings and thoughts are trying to fool you or not. A powerful tool here is to use art meditation. It will make you see clearer.

However, be prepared that things take time to change. It takes time to evolve, but with a strong will and determination, you may achieve something that will last for your whole life.
